Ryan Rakower is a partner in Quinn Emanuel’s New York Office.  His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation.  Ryan has experience in litigation and trial in a wide variety of subject matters, and he has represented private equity firms, venture capital firms, hedge funds, family offices, pension funds, insurance companies, international banks, medical technology companies, consumer goods companies, electric utilities, live entertainment providers, luxury apparel retailers, and art fabricators and dealers in a whole host of commercial disputes.  Ryan has particular experience dealing with commercial contract, fiduciary duty, and fraud disputes, securities litigation, mergers and acquisitions litigation, real estate litigation, ownership and founder disputes, and disputes involving allegations of employment discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation.  Ryan has significant experience in the New York state and federal courts and the Delaware Court of Chancery, and has also represented clients in JAMS, AAA, ICC, and NAM arbitrations.  Ryan’s practice also includes appellate work, and he has represented clients in the United States Court of Appeals and in intermediate and highest-level state appellate courts.

  • Representing the Estate of Allan Goldman in litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery and New York Supreme Court concerning the management of a multi-billion dollar family real estate empire.
  • Representing Trip Mate and Viking Cruises in litigation alleging breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and related claims against an insurance company in Missouri state court.
  • Obtained victory in the Delaware Supreme Court for affiliates of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System regarding a contractual right of first offer.
  • Obtained dismissal of putative class action regarding travel insurance brought against AIG affiliates in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
  • Represented AIG affiliates in a jury trial in Delaware Superior Court where jury found that AIG’s policyholder had committed fraud, acted in bad faith, and breached policy provisions, resulting in a take-nothing jury verdict.
  • Represented Masimo Corporation in litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery regarding company bylaws and provisions in an executive employment agreement.
  • Represented private equity and credit funds in litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery challenging a proposed merger.
  • Represented Sedgwick Claims Management Services in a jury trial in New York Supreme Court regarding claims for breach of contract and indemnification.
  • Represented Morgan Art Foundation against the Estate of Robert Indiana and others in a lawsuit concerning the foundation’s rights in and protection of the late artist Robert Indiana’s artworks and artistic legacy.
